“Why do we always get into these situations with you people…” announced Lawrence openly. “It’s rather tiresome dealing with you guys, you know that?”

Standing by the old fountain stood Tim Avernte and his battered group of men from the Trailvyne Trading Company. With guns to their sides, it was a known fact that one false statement or action could turn this whole situation into a bloody one.

“Surprising isn’t it? It all started with you Lawrence” said Tim proudly.
“Which I still don’t understand why you’re even after me. You’re the one who knocked me out and stole our cart of goods for your own profit! With that kind of coin, I thought you’d be more worried about the amount of women you can buy for yourself.” Lawerence looks over to the young lady to Tim’s left side with a smug face. “Do tell me Sofia. You work for Tim obviously, so much does he pay you, hm? Or does he even pay you? Maybe just getting into his pants is good enough that…”

Tim quickly unholstered his pistol from his slim waist, “Oh shut it, Lawrence. I’m not here for small talk with former associates. You said it yourself, with enough coin I could look at better things for myself? I have my eye on something else that could make me even wealthier than Robert Trailvyne himself! Where's the notebook Lawrence!”

Lawrence turns to the twins Floyd and Eliza with a small smile and peers up to Curtin Hall behind them, “I’m not really sure what you’re talking about Tim. We don’t have such a thing with us…”

“I know you have it! Jared informed us about an engineering notebook, which pertained to building bio fueled engines!” At this point, the other Trailvyne members raised their guns, as if just waiting for that phrase to be said aloud. As a reflective response, everyone else also unsheathed any weapons we may have left at our disposal in defense.

“Another Mexican stand off…great…” murmured Floyd.
“Oh don’t worry” said Tim loudly over the sounds of the fountain behind him, “it won’t be a stand off for long. Kill them!”
“Guys over here quickly!” screamed Saul as he waved his hands in the air. “Get behind the dirt wall for cover!”

Taking his advice, the three dashed towards the semi-large dirt wall that the Lorekeepers have been building for the past few hours in order to keep the campus-wide blazing fire from getting to Curtin Hall. Dirt spatters up from the ground and chips of large asphalt and tar rose into the already smoked filled air. With the fire across campus coming closer, the smoke was heavy and thick.

When reaching the point of no return behind the wall, Lawrence, Floyd, and Eliza finally understood what was making all the dirt spatter up so close to us. The Lorekeepers had picked up their own arms, and begun to fight back at the Trailvyne. A firefight had begun.

“Guys! You alright?!” Saul’s face was covered in sweat and dirt. When they arrived here and gave away the notebook to the Lorekeepers we wanted to make sure that Saul would be appointed into their ranks. He deserved it after all with all the trouble he was brought through thought Lawrence.
“Yeah we’re alright, just a little tired of talking with the locals I suppose.” teased Eliza with a chuckle.
“I’ve only became a Lorekeeper so don’t start with your crap now Eliza… Just happy you guys weren’t hurt…”
“We’re ok don’t worry Saul” said Lawrence. “We can’t stay here to long however, I don’t think this dirt wall will hold any of these random bullets from puncturing into it and us”

“Maybe we could go inside Curtin Hall? We can fight from inside there and not worry about those bullets and maybe get a better view of the battle?” Suggested Saul with a confused tone.

“Maybe we could some toasters…”
“Don’t start your crap either now Floyd” nipped Lawrence. He never could understand the humor that both the twins held, even more so when we have bullets flying around them.
“Wait I have an idea! Floyd, you still have the steam powered jump pack you got from the Lorekeeper boss, right? Someone can use it to boost themselves up over the smoke and kill Tim! Without a leader most of the other Trailvyne wouldn’t have a reason to stay would they? Even more so they might be freaked out of a sudden person falling from the sky!”

“This is why we love you Saul, brilliant idea!”

After the finer quick jests, Floyd offered to be the one to take the plunge. After preparing the pack and pulling out his long cavalry sword, Floyd face started to turn sour with dread.

“Are you sure that this will work…?”
“Nope! Onward you go Floyd!” shouted Saul as he pulls the cord on the large leather pack.
“What?! AHHHHHH!!!”

The steam coming from the pack was hugely underestimated as Floyd shot from his spot like a cannon shooting a cannonball. He rose above the smoke within seconds and started to panic and moving around wildly.

“Stop panicking you idiot! Get Tim!” Shouted Eliza over the sounds of gunfire. If Floyd was able to hear her or not, they were unsure. Floyd seemed to have stabilized his trajectory and was now finally falling out of the sky with bursting speed. Tim, unsure of his invading guest from the sky, bursts out laughing for some reason maybe hoping that our screams were them dying from his men’s fire. Soon though, it was his screams that was being heard all around.

“I’m going! I’m not going to let Floyd have final call!” Lawrence quickly dashed from behind the mound towards where the screams and moans could be last heard. When we got there Tim was lying in a large pool of his blood with his arm cut clear off. Floyd had rolled over to safety luckily and was lying in the fountain water floating and smiling coyly.

“Hmpf…” Lawrence made his walks brisk but strong. “No second chance this time ol’ chum. I won’t make the same mistake as I did last time. Sorry Tim, looks like this might be your last deal, don’t think you’ll silver tongue out of this one with me or the devil.”

A shot rang out from among the smoke clouds, maybe even louder then the rifle shots from before. Tim’s skull bursts cleanly as the pistol bullet slithers its way past Tim body and into his once proud merchant soul.

It was over. It was finally over...
